The Centre d'Etudes et de Recherches des Télécommunications (CERT) in Tunisia is a government-backed institution responsible for ensuring the approval and certification of telecommunications equipment and technologies in the country. It plays a crucial role in setting standards and guidelines for telecommunication devices, services, and infrastructure to ensure they meet technical, safety, and regulatory requirements.

The CERT approval in Tunisia specifically refers to the certification process that telecommunications equipment and devices must go through to be legally used or sold within the country.


  • Type approval in Tunisia requires acceptable CE reports.
  • 1 sample setup for conducted testing required for in country testing, including all cables, adapters, software, etc. to put the equipment into test modes.
  • Custom broker fee may apply in order to pass samples through customs.
  • Additional fees may be applicable to the project from the agency based on the time and/or complexity of testing samples. 
  • If product can support encryption functionality, there may also be additional cost from the agency for testing the samples.
  • New certificates issued by CERT from February 1, 2020 have unlimited validity.
  • Lead time is approximately 6-8 weeks from the time all documents and samples have been collected.

The Ministry of Communication Technologies authorizes WiFi 6E (5925–6425 MHz)

In an official announcement by the Tunisian Ministry of Communication Technologies dated December 10, 2024, the WiFi 6E frequency bands (5925–6425 MHz) have been officially authorized for RLAN (WiFi) services in Tunisia.

This regulatory milestone enables the deployment of next-generation wireless technologies, offering faster internet speeds, improved connectivity, and enhanced user experiences.

Indoor Usage Specifications: Conditions are specified for indoor environments to maximize safety and minimize interference.
Compliance Standards: Regulations align with European specification EN 303 687, which facilitates compatibility with globally recognized benchmarks.

Tunisia CERT label requirements:

The following labeling requirements are mandatory:


Brand name, Model name, Serial number

Adding the Approval number is optional. There is no specific format for the label and there is no way to avoid putting the label on the equipment. To avoid any problem in customs or during market surveillance process, it is also recommended to have the same product identification in the product label, the packaging, the user's manual and the type approval certificate.
