Macao Expands Frequency Range for Short-Range Devices
The Macao government has recently introduced new regulations expanding the permissible frequency bands for certain short-range radio devices (SRDs). This adjustment is detailed in Decision No. 64/2024, which revises the previous Order No. 198/2014 pertaining to low-power and short-range radio communication equipment exempt from licensing requirements.
These regulatory changes specifically affect two categories of SRDs:
Category 1.8: This covers wireless data communication equipment, excluding wireless telephone systems.
Category 1.10: This includes satellite radio navigation and positioning system receivers.
For Category 1.8 devices, the permitted frequency bands now include:
2400-2483.5 MHz
5150-5350 MHz
5470-5725 MHz
5725-5850 MHz
5925-6425 MHz
57-66 GHz (with limitations on power output based on indoor/outdoor use)
Category 1.10 devices, namely satellite radio navigation and positioning systems, are no longer subject to restrictions on the frequency bands they may utilize.
These revised regulations came into effect on April 16, 2024.As regulations change from time to time in many countries you should contactCSIA for up to date information.
