A recent development in the regulatory landscape of Iraq's telecommunications industry has been the issuance of a new regulation by the Communications and Media Commission (CMC) just a week ago.
Below are the main changes included in this regulation:
- A new type of type approval certificate is issued called a "family certificate". This certificate is designed to cover several models of equipment that have the same technical specifications but differ in their model names.
- The type approval certificate is granted to any telecommunications equipment (wireless devices and wired devices) according to the type of device shown and conditions stipulated in this regulation.
This means that manufacturers and importers of telecommunications equipment must comply with the requirements set out in the regulation in order to obtain the necessary type approval certificate.
