The National Information and Communication Technologies Authority (NICTA) of Papua New Guinea (PNG) has announced its intent to introduce two regulatory instruments under the National ICT Act of 2009.
The ICT Equipment Type Approval Rule outlines the requirements for approving, importing, selling, using, or connecting ICT equipment to PNG’s ICT networks, including obtaining PNG Customs authorization.
NICTA oversees the process of type approval and registration of ICT equipment under five distinct registration schemes categorized as follows:
Primary cell-operated equipment
Customer Equipment (CE)
Controlled Customer Equipment (CCE)
Low Interference Power Devices (LIPD) or Short-Range Devices (SRD)
Radio Communications Equipment
All type approval procedures, equipment registration schemes, and general guidelines must comply with the NICTA Type Approval Guideline.
Papua New Guinea NICTA label requirements:
There are no specific label requirements, however it is suggested that you use the CE Mark label guidelines.
Frequencies allowed in Papua New Guinea:
900 MHz is allowed in Papua New Guinea and is commonly used for mobile phone networks, specifically the GSM standard, within the country; the National Information & Communications Technology Authority (NICTA) of PNG has approved the 900 MHz band for use in mobile communications.

The current population is 10,686,814.
Tok Pisin is the most widely spoken language in Papua New Guinea. It's an English-based creole language that's also known as Melanesian Pidgin or Neo-Melanesian.
The National Information & Communications Technology Authority (NICTA) approval refers to the authorization granted by NICTA, which is typically a regulatory body in a country, to businesses, organizations, or individuals for compliance with standards related to information and communication technology (ICT).
In countries like Papua New Guinea, for example, NICTA is responsible for overseeing and regulating the ICT sector.
