Sri Lanka: New Type Approval Requirements
Starting December 16th, 2020, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) published new Type Approval procedures which are applicable to all RTTE devices intended to be imported, marketed, manufactured or used in Sri Lanka.
All products not approved by December 16, 2020 must have approval under the new RTTE Type Approval Rules
All type approval certificates issued prior to December 16, 2020 under the old rules will expire automatically on June 17, 2021 and those products must undergo a new type approval process.

The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) is the governmental body responsible for regulating and overseeing telecommunications services in Sri Lanka. The TRCSL's approval refers to the official authorization or certification granted by the Commission for various activities related to telecommunications in Sri Lanka.
Type approval in Sri Lanka requires acceptable CE reports.
1 sample setup for conducted testing required for in country testing, including all cables, adapters, software, etc. to put the equipment into test modes.
Local representative required. If the manufacture does not have one, CSIA can offer this service.
Satellite devices that send/receive and transmit data and/or voice will require application for importation of units by the local importer instead of a TRC certification.
Lead time approximately 3-4 weeks from the time all documents and samples have been collected.
Certificate is valid for 4 years. Indefinitely for cellular devices.
